Families and homeowners
Buying a home and having children are two of the biggest changes on a federal return. We review mortgage interest and property taxes against the standard deduction, and the credits that may apply for your dependents, so you take what really belongs to you.
Starting a business from home
Nevada has no state income tax for individuals, but a business has other obligations. Most businesses operating in Nevada need a State Business License from the Nevada Secretary of State, filed through SilverFlume: $200 a year for most business types, including sole proprietors, and $500 for corporations. There is an exemption for some home-based businesses with low net earnings, but you have to file a declaration for it every year.
We help you set up your first year so your taxes come out clean: separate business accounts, the expenses you can deduct, and the estimated payments you may owe.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Nevada State Business License if I work from home?
Most businesses do, including sole proprietors. Some home-based businesses qualify for an exemption if their net earnings are low, but you have to file a Declaration of Eligibility for Exemption every year with the Secretary of State.
Do I need to file a Nevada state income tax return?
No. Nevada does not impose a state income tax on individuals, so most people only file a federal return. If you have a business, Nevada has other obligations, such as the State Business License, and we review those with you.
Can you prepare my LLC, S-Corp or partnership return?
Yes. We prepare individual returns and returns for single-member and multi-member LLCs, S-Corps (Form 1120-S) and partnerships (Form 1065).
I have unfiled years. Can you help?
Yes, we can prepare and file the years you are missing. Keep in mind that if you were owed a refund, the IRS generally only pays it if you file within 3 years of that return's due date, so it is better not to wait.
Can I do everything remotely?
Yes. You can send your documents through a secure portal and we go over your return by phone or video call.
